Q: How do you change the fuel filter on a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer?
Also, where is the fuel filter located?

A: I own a shop, and this is how we do it. Just to be safe, and not burn down the shop, we remove the fuel pump fuse, or relay to keep it from coming on, and pumping the fuel while we work on it. Yes... the pump can come on with the ignition switch off, so do it safe, rather than sorry. We jack the front of the vehicle up by running up on some ramps, and this will keep the amount of fuel that comes out to a minimum. Use a container to catch the fuel in. The filter is located about mid-way between the wheels on the drivers side. You need a 10mm socket and/or a wrench to remove the bolt from the clamp that holds the filter in place. The bolt comes out from the top of the frame rail. You will need 5/8" line wrench, a 7/8'' open end wrench, a 3/4'' open end wrench to remove the lines. Remove the front line first, by holding the filter with one wrench, and turning the line nut with the 5/8'' line wrench. When you move the line forward out of the filter, you will get about a glass full of fuel come out. Be careful to not damage the O-ring that is on the line, as you will have to use it again. You might go by a dealership, and pick up some new ones, as this is the only place to get them. Now, remove the rear line by pulling the filter forward away from the line. This will also cause some gas to pour out, so be prepared to catch it. A good idea is to roll your sleeves up past your elbows when you do this job, and have several shop towles handy, because there is no way around some fuel pouring out. Drop the old filter in the bucket, and don't mess around getting the new one in place. If the fuel tank has much gas in it, it will push it out the line, so its a good idea to do this with a minimum of fuel in the tank. The O-rings that go on the lines are bad to break, and care must be taken to get the filter in place, and the lines back on. Tighten the lines good, replace the screw that holds it to the frame, replace the fuse, and turn the ignition switch on for 3 seconds, and off for three seconds. Do this several times to build the pressure back on the line. Now, inspect the filter for any leaks before you attempt to start the engine. When installing the new filter, look for an arrow on the filter that indicates the direction of flow, and you want the arrow pointing toward the front of the vehicle. Once you have determined there is no leaks, start the engine, and let it run for about 10 seconds, and shut if off again. Inspect the line for leaks by running you fingers around the fittings, and looking for any wet on your fingers. If its ok, then you are set to go. Glad to help you, Good Luck!!!

Q: How do I program the key fobs for my 2003 Chevy Trailblazer?
I need to be able to program the keyless remotes, I already replaced the batteries and they are ready to be programmed but I am unsure as to how to go about doing so, anything will help.. Thanks so much in advance.

A: Liz 03, Blackdack 28 is very correct. I went through this painful process three wks ago.

Q: How are the headlights replaced in a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer?
I want to remove the factory bulbs and replace with halogen.

A: Behind the low beam and high beam lamps, on the back of the assembly, you can see and feel a round, cup-like, hard plastic piece. This is really just a rubber cap covering a plastic cylindrical housing, and is the "back-door" for lamp access. This rubber cap, or lid, can be pulled off with your fingers...if you can grip it just right and pull off. If this is too hard to do, then take a flat tip screwdriver and gently "pry" it off.

Q: Do you know how to replace the ignition switch on a 2003 chevy trailblazer?
I've bought the book and the info is scattered over several different chapters and sub-sections.I've gotten so PO'ed that I'd really like to speak with someone that's done this task before. Thanks.

A: i hate to be negative but if it is a pass lock anti-theft switch (95% are) it will have to be done by a dealership so it can be reprogrammed. if not it will not start even if you straight wire it (not recommended) if it does not have anti-theft you will start with removing the air bag then steering wheel lock retainer c clip lock retainer clock spring then the upper and lower covers when you have all that removed there is a small hole above the lock cylinder you will need a small pick to push down the hole cycle the key to the on position and pull out sometimes it is very aggravating to get the lock cylinder out good luck hope this helps

Q: 2003 Chevy Trailblazer, clicking sound in Inline 6 engine. What is the cause?
I have heard a couple of these Trailblazer engines that have a slow clicking sound. The sound is coming from the area near the serpentine belt. The click seems to be timed slightly slower than the belt revolution. I have asked a couple mechanics, but they didn't know what it was.

A: All of these engines have that Tick and is normal. Nothing to worry about.

Q: How can you get the belt around the fan on a 2003 chevy trailblazer? Going nuts!@#$#.?
Cant get belt around a bar on the back of the fan. There must be an easier way than im doing. I already checked autozone and they dont have squat. Thanks Belt routing guide is on the shroud, but doesnt show it how to get the belt around the fan. Its funny...but really irriating... I was able to get the belt off without removing anything lol. So Im thinking I can get it on without removing the fan.

A: there should be a diagram on the radiator support or hood. you should not have to take off any bar.

Q: Could I get payoff for my 2003 chevy trailblazer?
It has 90,000 miles and I still owe quite a bit of money still. What if I can't get payoff? What do I do?

A: It would probably be best to keep it until you can get the loan payed down to a reasonable level. You could probably trade it anyway and transfer the negative balance to a new loan, but then you will be in the same situation all over again.

Q: 2003 chevy trailblazer stalls when car is idling and ac is turned on.?
I just replaced the alternator but now the car stalls out when I turn on the ac. I can see the ac compressor engage for a few seconds and then turn off. Looking for some specific things to try. .. more than take it to a mechanic. Car runs fine other than that. Thanks.

A: Possibly a few things... New alternator is bad, battery is drained, a ground is shorting out, a tune up is required to handle the stress..... Auto zone will hook a computer for free and diagnose it for you. Good Luck....

Q: What kind of stock speakers are in a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer?

Q: I drive a 2003 chevy trailblazer ltz with gas going up so much is a chip going to help me get better gas mpg?
im mainly concerned abouyt it ruining my engine

A: Consider that automotive manufacturers have already experimented with just about anything that will give a vehicle the best mileage it can. If there was some miracle chip or device, they'd already have it in the vehicle and tout it to make more sales. Your best bets are proper maintenance and paying attention to your driving style. They cost less in the long run and don't void your vehicle warranty. ;-)

Q: how do you change a low beam headlight in a 2003 chevy trailblazer?

A: Its not that easy. First you need to remove the grill. Easier than it sounds ther are a few clips in top and some on the sides. no screws need to be removed just the clips pull out. Once the grill is removed you have to pull up on the 2 metal or plastic tabs. One on each side of the assembly. Once you pull tabs up the whole headlight assembly will come out. then remove the rubber cover over the light you want to change and the bulb will be visible then twist out and pull out bulb i think it is a 4157 bulb.

Q: How do you lock the tailgate on a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer LTZ?

A: locking the doors locks the tailgate

Q: 2003 Chevy Trailblazer wont start despite using it an hour ago. Starter clicks but engine doesnt turn at all.?
Noticed that the clock resets each time i try to start it.

A: I was going to say your battery was dead, but if the clock is resetting, the battery is disconnecting. Remove both cables, clean the terminals and reconnect. Likely the battery isn't grounding properly, and it has just caught up to you.

Q: I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer. I went to add antifreeze and it is PINK. Cannot find PINK only Green,Orange?
This is the original antifreeze that was in it when I bought it.

A: It is just Dex-cool. It can be Pink or orange depending on the maker. Each company puts dies in the coolant to decipher between the different types. There is a coolant out that I use called complete which will work in Dex-cool, standard green and Chrysler GO-5. Don't worry about it. Most Dex-cool vehicles look pink from the factory and the stuff you buy from the store is usually orange. As long as it says Dex-cool you are ok.
