Q: How do I put my dead 2000 chevy trailblazer into neutral?
Obviously it's an automatic. The car has been dead and the key is stuck in the ignition. There is no button to press (like small or hard to get at) that allows me to shift my car into neutral and I can't see it mentioned in my car's manual. I tried putting my foot on the break and that didn't work either. Thanks in advance!!! Also, The car is parked under a carport and that's where it died. It's not facing in the right direction to jump or we would have done that. :) Thanks for all the answers so far!

A: The easiest answer is crawl under the car and unsnap the shift cable from the transmission lever. It just pops on. Use a flat screwdriver to pop it off. Have someone inside hold the brake and use your hand to move the shifter lever on the transmission. It is on the drivers side. You don't have to find neutral, anything other than park will let the car roll back. Roll it back then crawl back under it move the lever back and snap the cable back on. Piece of cake without going and buying or borrowing more cables etc. Hope this helps.

Q: My car is a 2000 Chevy Trailblazer and the clicking noise is when I am driving at a medium to fast speed.?
I can feel it underneath my foot when I am driving. when I am idle the car is fine it is only when I am driving when I foot is on the gas peddle.

A: It may be something as simple as a rock in the tire tread. Check your wheel wells and tires for debris.

Q: 2000 Chevy Trailblazer - The heater won't blow hot air. How can I troubleshoot this?
I'm just a girl and all but I seriously thought this was an impossibility. I always thought the hot air from the engine block was drawn in automatically when the heater gets turned on. Instead yesterday and today all I got was freezing cold air. The AC worked fine. I tried it yesterday afternoon. Is this something as simple as a blown fuse or could it be something worse? You guys all rock so much! I will try out the floor vs. defrost setting first when I pick up my daughter from school then I will look into all of the other great ideas. Luckily I live in the South and while it was in the 30s this morning it usually doesn't get that cold. It could be worse lol. I'll check back in when I get this all checked out. Thanks again. I will be sure to rate everyone with a "+"!

A: Believe it or not, check your water level in your radiator. Your radiator supplies the heat. If it is low on water then it won't send water to your heater.

Q: Early 2000 GMC Envoy And Chevy Trailblazer?
yes i am going to buy a gmc envoy and or a chevy trailblazer. i was wondering what the miles per gallon is on these vehicles and what the fuel tank size are..

A: about 20 MPG on the highway if your lucky and 15 or 16 in the city and I think they have a 22 or 25 gal. tank, I own a 03 trailblazer LT.

Q: i need help i have a choose between a 2000 durango and a 2002 chevy trailblazer?
for my next car i wanted leather so the trailblazer is 7 thousand wit no leather the durangi is 5500 and it have leather if u was in my shoes what would u do honest opinion thanks

A: I have worked on both of these vehicles. The TrailBlazer would be the best bet. I own one and I love it. It drives great, smooth, great stereo system. Very good for long trips. The Durango doesn't even compare.

Q: How to change rear brakes\rotors on 2002 chevy trailblazer?
Well I changed the front with no problems and it has helped allot. But I still hear allot of squealing from the rear and even sounds like a pad or something is dragging. I took a quick look without taking the wheel off and it looks really similar to the front. Being a 4wd would this be the case? Anything special? I will see if the auto place has a manual on this vehicle, but I do not think so as I looked online and it stops at 2000. Thanks again

A: The trailblazer is straight forward. It's the identical method like the front, with the exception that it used the inside hub of the rotor as the drum for the parking brake. Take off the 2 caliper bolts and slide the caliper off the rotor. Grab the rotor and slide it off. There is no bridge to remove. The caliper piston is reset by compressing it, like the fronts. If you are going to replace the pads, it would be a good idea to replace the park brake shoes and hold down hardware as well.

Q: Dead car makes a loud clicking noise instead on an engine turnover...?
2000 Chevy Trailblazer - We finally got it into a position where it could be jumped and instead of turning over, it made a loud clacking noise. The hood was open and I saw the fan trying to turn but it was turning to the rhythm of that noise and perhaps power output. My husband said he had never heard of a noise like that before from just a dead battery. I revved the engine on the good car but that didn't help. Thank you.

A: the battery is completely drained. just let the charging car run and charge the bad cars battery for about 7 minutes. that clicking noise is the starter not having enough juice to turn the engine.

Q: 2006 Chevy Trailblazer, CD stuck in radio / changer?
We have a 6 disc CD changer (factory equipmenet). There are 5 CD's that will not eject, one of which is a burned CD with a CD label on it. Im not sure if the label is causing the problem or or if the unit is just jammed. I am 2000 miles past warranty and it is a leased vehicle that gets turned back in 2 months from now, so I do not want to invest a lot of money in it. Can I remove th radio and remove the CDs some how ????

A: First thing to do is to remove a battery cable for a few minutes, then reconnect it. This will reset the radio, and you may get lucky and the Cd's can be ejected. If you're not lucky, and don't want to spend spend $200-300 to have the unit repaired, then just replace the Cd's. You may be able to take the CD changer apart enough to get your Cd's out, but it won't be worth the aggravation.

Q: Alternator Replacement 2 vs 3 bolt?
Hi, I just replaced my alternator on my 2000 Chevy Trailblazer. The alternator I took out was a 100 amp 3 bolt configuration but the rebuilt one I bought from the auto parts store was a 100 amp 2 bolt configuration... (the small back bolt hole was the missing one)... The alternator fit fine in the other two bottom holes and seems secure and working well. Just wondering if not having that back bolt is going to cause a problem later on? Thanks

A: To be honest, it may or it may not. I would not chance it. There is a reason for three bolts instead of two. If you want it the way it should be, take it somewhere like auto zone and they should be able to change out the back with the old alternator. They usually do not charge anything for this service since it only takes about ten seconds.

Q: Gasoline question about my car....?
I was wondering if anybody knows how many gallons of gas (roughly) a 2000 chevy trailblazer holds? Im trying to figure out a road trip and need to punch in some numbers for the gas and stuff.

A: Well according to this site: http://www.cartrucktrader.com/Search/Details.cfm?IID=500558113 If you go down and click "tech specs" tab the gas tank capacity is rated at 22 gallons. Hope that helps you out =) When your calculating don't forget about 2 gallons is probably in reserve.

Q: I need to buy a car?
I have asked many questions about cars but I want to buy a good used car and I want to know if anyone has these cars and what problems do you have wrong or had to fix. 2000 or less models: Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition, Montero Limited, Mazda Tribute, Mazda Millenia, Nissan Extera, Chevy Trailblazer (I have heard about engine problems with this vehicle is it true?). I really want some type of small SUV because my fiance is getting a Tahoe and we dont need two Big SUVs. Thanks

A: I would look at the Mazda Tribute, which is a Ford Explorer. My wife drives a 2001 Explorer. It has nearly 200K miles on it and I have only replaced a thermostat, hoses and belts. It drives and looks like new. The Exterra/Pathfinder is another solid SUV and it's a gas to drive.

Q: Which SUV should I buy?
I am looking to buy a used SUV..looking to spend 10-15 grand on it.....living in Canada so the prices will be a little inflated im looking at maybe an 2002 Ford Explorer, or a Chevy Trailblazer...Possibly an GMC Yukon (looking at 2000-2004) Mainly im gonna be driving it to school and work on a daily basis..so it has to be reliabe thanks s -i will take a look at the smaller SUV ...but i really want a bigger "mid-sized" SUV -gas isnt really a problem, i make enough to be able to spend 100$ a week on gas -i really would like an SUV over a car -my dream SUV would be the new range rover HSE...love the way the cars looks and drives (ive driven one around for a while)...however it is clearly out of my price range

A: Why so big? Why not a Toyota (Highlander) or Honda (CR-V)? Those are very reliable and hold their value. Also, Jeep Wranglers hold their value and are reliable....especially in the snow....you do live in Canada...

Q: What do you think of this situation? OPINIONS NEEDED PLEASE!?
Ok, so I went to the dealership today to test drive a cadillac SRX and a chevy trailblazer. well, we get there at our appt. time, then have to wait about 20 minutes to speak with someone. The guys starts taking all of our information like we are buying the car. he says payments would be about $550/mo. i told him he was crazy, because the cars were between $12-$14000, and with $2000 down and a 60 month loan there is no way payments would be that much. simple math. he went on saying how because they were newer cars the payment per month would be more? he sounded like a complete moron. it made no sense. I keep telling him over and over we are on a time limit and we just need to test drive the vehicels before my husband has to leave for work. thats what we made the appt. for, and only that, because we wont have the money for the down payment until later in the week. well, the guy takes off with our drivers license to make a copy, but is gone for like 30 minutes. he comes back, asls us for our work info and all that, then leaves saying he will be right back. about 20 minutes later he comes back saying he is pulling the car up. another half an hour passes, and we have to go searching for him to find him with another customer outside, and tell him just to give us our licenses back, we no longer have time to test drive the vehicles today (we were there for over an hour already) and he went on about how he can get us in the car we want today. i said no, we need to leave. so we finally get our licenses back from the girl behind the counter and leave. about an hour later they call my husband on his cell and ask him why he left. of course my husband was mad so we kinda let her have it. then she said that we were approved for the loan, and that she would mess with the numbers to get the monthly payments lower. i dunno. this siutation is kinda disturbing. to me it feels like the initial guy was trying to scam us, then when we didnt fall for it the lady called us back because, well, they need to sell those vehicles. they are both SUVs, and we all know ppl arent in the market for those right now. Plus, they both have been sitting there since July. What do you guys think of this? james- yeah, that price was the internet price... i was thinking, he was doing the "what can you afford monthly payment"scam to get us in a more expensive car

A: You should have waleked out the moment you realized he was not listening to you. This ass**** is the old 'blue suede shoes" type of salesman who thinks it's still 1950 and he can treat customers any way he wants to. He thinks he can scam everyone who walks on the lot and then brag about it afterwards to the oether salesmen. I could go on about this kind of jerk-off shyster who gives all salesmen a terrible reputation. But I'll end it by saying if he worked for me, he'd be out the door with my shoe stuck in his ass! I have no tolerance for idiots like him. And under no circumstances should you buy anything from this guy or this dealership. Its management tolerates this kind of despicable actions and they deserve to be shut down.Find another car at another dealer. But I do have a few questions for you. They aren't sweet or kind but you need to think about something here. Why would you wait that long for a test drive? And why would you offer all your info when you didn't like way you were treated? You made an appointment. They kept you waiting for 20 minutes to begin with. Then the salesman was rude, arrogant and not listening to a word you said. He kept you waiting another 30 minutes. Why did you let yourself be treated so horribly? If you did end up buying a car from this place and got buried in it, you only would have yourself to blame. No one was holding you or your husband at gun point. They didn't chain you to a desk. So why didn't you demand your licenses and leave? Unfortunately there are far too many people just like you that will let themselves be abused by ass**** salesmen. That's why they still exist in such great numbers. As soon as he got you to fill out a credit app before the test drive, he knew he had a pigeon. That was your first mistake. Then knew he could keep you waiting, so he increased the amount of time he'd leave you alone. Your second mistake. He turned you over to a 'closer" who's job it is to get you back in the dealership and slam you into a car with payments that benefit them, not you. DON'T MAKE A THIRD MISTAKE. Don't go back. You and so many others hate dealing with shysters like this guy. But you keep them in business by letting yourselves continually get abused. Just sitting there taking it when you should've gotten up and left within the first 20 minutes. The cure for the blue suede shoe salesman is for customers to get a backbone and refuse to be talked down to and disrespected. Alright, I'm off my soapbox now. But I hope you'll be more in control of the situation the next time you go car shopping. That way you'll end up with a car you like at a payment that fits your budget. And you'll go for a drive in your new car instead of driving like a bootlegger back to your house for a stiff double shot of whiskey and a valium.

Q: Dealership broke contract didn't pay trade-in in full.?
I bought a 2007 Chevy tahoe and traded in my 2005 Trailblazer and a 2000 Suburban for it. It was agreed that the dealer was to pay off both my trailblazer and suburban in full. On the trailblazer they didn't pay off the loan in full and i didn't know that it wasn't paid in full Resulting in me getting dinged for 60days over due on my creditreport which lowered it by 50 points. they apparently paid the rest several months after it was traded in. Since the dealership broke there contract for not paying it in full on time as promised and damaging my credit score can i give them the car back for not fullfilling there contract and for damages to my credit history for the next 7 years??? right now i am quite pissed at them.

A: I'd be pretty pissed off too! I would speak to an attorney and the dealership's General Manager. Have them issue a letter explaining that they screwed up. See if you can negotiate with the old finance company to remove the late report if the letter is issued. First thing is to try to get the credit report cleared up, just in case they do take the vehicle back, you will need to buy something else.
