A: SAE 5W-30 for cold climates, SAE 10W-30 for moderate climates, SAE 15W-40 for hot climates You can stick with 10W-30 year-round, or 5W30 if you have harsh winters. Or you can use 10W-30 most of the time and 5W-30 when it's cold.

Q: 2003 chevy tracker. Thinking about buying?
Thinking about buying this car but have a few questions. The owner said he replaced tierods, a-arm bushings, and the cv shafts. He also says the steering arm knuckle needs to be replaced. The car has 120000 miles on it. I am wondering it is normal for this stuff to be replaced at this amount of miles or if he may have beat it up. The body looks very nice so it is hard to tell if he ragged on it. Also I am wondering if the 2.5 liter engine will go for many more miles or not. He was asking 5500 but he is leaving the state and must get rid of it so he said he would let it go for 3500 which I thought was a very good deal. I was thinking of buying it tomarrow so any quick feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A: The Chevy tracker which is really a Geo tracker is a garbage car. Do not buy it.

Q: 2003 Chevrolet Tracker Timing belt?
I was wondering if a 2003 Chevy Tracker had a timing belt and if so when should I change it. It has the 2.0 four cylinder engine with the 127hp. The dealer at Suzuki said it had a chain but I dont know if he knew what he was talking about.

A: Chain, as already mentioned. You may want to check out: http://suzuki.off-road.com/Geo+Tracker http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geo_Tracker

Q: Service engine soon light? 2003 tracker.?
I have an 03 chevy tracker the service engine light is on, i took it to the local auto-zone to have it checked and was told the engine was not running at normal temp. But it is not over heating. Could it be a false reading?

A: ENGINE NOT RUNNING @ NORMAL TEMP. COULD MEAN THAT IT IS RUNNING SLIGHTLY HOTTER BUT NOT ENOUGH TO OVERHEAT, OR IT COULD MEAN THAT IT IS RUNNING COOLER THAN NORMAL. CHECK TEMP. SWITCH THAT CONTROLS COOLING FAN. ALSO CHECK COOLING FAN RELAY, IF IT IS STUCK IN THE ENGAGED POSITION THEN THE ENGINE COOLING FAN WILL RUN CONTINUOUSLY. THUS CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OPERATE @ BELOW NORMAL OPERATING TEMP.

Q: how much does it cost to fix a broken tail light?
its a 2003 chevy tracker, and I already know that I canNOT do it by myself.

A: Try looking on eBay, usually cheaper than junk yards.

Q: Chevrolet Tracker Check engine like on Code says Heater CK???
A few days ago while riding down the road the check engine light on my 2003 Chevy Tracker came on when I took it to the auto parts store they told me the code was saying Heater CK. Even though they had the machine they could not tell me what the code meant. The code also gave a p00030 reading. They were nice enough to turn the light off for me but I would like to know if that was something I need to be concerned about. The Tracker has 60,000 miles and no lights have never came on before. This has been a very reliable vehicle for me. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

A: no such code! heater curcit in 02 sensor

Q: My car wont start sometimes?
I have a 2003 Chevy Tracker 4 cylinder 4wheel drive. It runs good most of the time. But once every week or two usually just after its been driven it just wont start, the lights come on in the dash and the engine turns over but it wont start. If I wait a few minutes it will almost start splutter a bit and cut out again. After a few more minutes it will start right up and run perfect for another week or so. Any ideas ?

A: You have a clog in the fuel system, start by using a brand name fuel system cleaner, mixed in a tank of gas.... if that doesn't help change the fuel filter....

Q: Some questions about the Chevy Tracker?
just wondering how they are? I'm looking at a 2000 and a 2003 each with about 75,000 miles on it and I was wondering how they are for engine reliability, cost of repairs, ect I have a high MPG Saturn SL2 right now but I'm driving 31 miles one way to work for now, in November I'll be driving 5 miles one way but there will be a lot more snow up to where I'm moving so I'd like something that could get through the snow better and thought the Tracker might be good at it while still maintaining somewhat decent MPG

A: Great suv no problems with mine with the exception of the a/c went out. Parts are a bit pricey the ac compressor and evap core is over $300. I get 30 mpg every tank of gas. I love mine and will cry when I have to replace it one day.

Q: how do i fix my car?
my car does not play burnt cds. its a 2003 chevy tracker. how do i fix it?

A: hmm... that's strange. my factory deck in my 99 Park Avenue & 00' Benz SLK230 play them just fine. I assume it's the factory deck? Has it ever played them? What type of error code does it give when it ejects it? If it plays other cd's fine, then I'd say you need to get a new cd player. I partial to Eclipse & you can get an entry level model for about $175. Check crutchfield.com - if you buy it there, they include the wiring harness, antenna adapter & instructions to install it yourself. If it doesn't play other cd's - I'd try to clean it first. They make a CAR cd cleaner disc. DO NOT get the other type of cleaner disc made for home cd players - it WILL get stuck in your CAR player & then you will have another problem entirely.

Q: What car/suv will hold 3 car seats?
I currently drive a 2003 Chevy Tracker (4 door), but with baby # 3 on the way there isnt enough room for 3 car seats and a triple stroller. Any suggestions on cars/suvs that will fit 3 carseats and still have room? I also want to have 4x4, it snows a lot where I live. Max price would be around $10,000 to spend. Pictures are also great! * Once the baby arrives I will have a newborn, 14 mo old, and 4 yr old.

A: a doge darango and the cev trialblazer are some good ones you might want to think of a min van

A: I had a chevy blazer that fit 3 comfortably, but I now drive an F250 extended cab truck, because we live on a ranch and needed 4x4 too. It is awesome in the snow, and really spacious. It seats 6 all together. I LOVE having a truck! You also have the whole bed for storage, and you can just buy a bed cover to keep the snow and rain out.

Q: Thoughts/Experiences with these cars?
I'm currently in the market for a new car. This is my long list of vehicles i'm interested in. I'm just looking for others experiences with any of these models. It would be a 2000-2003 model and AWD or 4x4. Thanks for any help in narrowing down my choices! A: What you didn't`t mention was your budget. The cars you listed have prices all over the map and most people have limits. I wouldn't`t be as concerned as to the make and model as I would the economics and warranty's, fuel mileage and longevity, how long the car is going to last. Try and marrow your choices down by establishing your budget, what the absolute max is that you are willing to pay for a used car. Once you have that then get on the net and plug these cars into your search engine and find out how they were rated in magazines like car and driver. Also look at their posted guaranteed miles per gallon reported on the window stickers when they were new. I think these things are far more important than peoples personal opinions on the internet. You will narrow your search. Also, keep this in mind. The current low prices of fuel will not stay this way very long. It is going to go back up and probably be higher the next time if congress dosn`t allow drilling for our own oil. You need a gas miser my friend. Most used cars in the 2000 and 2003 years are not going to give you very good mileage. A 2008 and 09 ford fusion will go up to 36 miles per gallon. I just rented one and took it on a 1000 mile rnd trip and it was averaging that with two people in the car and the A\C running. If you compare the difference of the mileage a 2000 model will give you versus the current 35 to 36 a ford fusion can give you, the savings in fuel alone may justify buying a new Ford over the used model. Something to think about.
