Q: how to saftly remove the flashing beeping fuse block on a 2001 chevy tracker?
my 2001 tracker is giving me fits with the fuse blk. beeping and the lights flashing.for my own ,operation I want to rid me of the block with a by-pass item

A: Sorry Jack, but your question makes no sense. You cannot by-pass your fuse block! Beeping-what's beeping? Lights flashing-which lights? Why do you think it's the fuse block? Maybe you can re-write your question with more information in order to get some help.

Q: How do I repair the outside door handles on a 2001 Chevy Tracker?
I have the parts and I know the general idea of how to do it, but how does the inside plastic piece pop off the door frame? Once I get that off, is it pretty simple to repair? Thanks for your help!

A: You have to practically break the panel off, it is held on with a couple screws and one time use fasteners. When pulling on the panel there will be a fastener about every 12 inches, don't just pull, you have to pop them off one at a time, it helps to have some new fasteners, swing by a dealership and buy 5 or 6 or them. Or you can just replace the fasteners with self tapping screws, but it won't be as pretty. If you don't pull gently you will put a permanent bend in the cardboard panel, they are pretty fragile. Once in there you might have to take out the window to have enough room to get in there and take out the old handle, beware of extremely sharp edges on everything in there!

Q: How do I set the clock in my 2001 Chevy tracker?

Q: A question about a 2001 Chevy Tracker.?
I just bought a used chevy tracker its 2001. It's an automatic and to the left of the gear shifter is a switch that has a N and A/T and P. What is that and what does it do? Thanks Jill

A: The Tracker has a few modes for the transmission. N=normal power mode P=power mode A/T=towing power. It changes the shift points of the transmission to help in conditions power is for on ramp fast acceleration A/T is for when you are towing a load.

Q: I am looking to buy a 2001 chevy tracker. I would like to know what the engine life is on this model.?
vehicle has 90,000 miles on it.

A: The Chevy Tracker is a rebaged Suzuki. Get a fuel effecient and reliable Toyota RAV4 instead.

Q: Oil Leak in 2001 Chevy Tracker- Rear Main Seal and Oil Pan. What to do?
I have a 2001 Chevy Tracker. The car has been paid off for two years and has 106,000 miles on it. My car had been smoking and my oil had been consistently low. I took it in to the Chevy dealership to get it checked out. The engine was saturated with burnt oil and it had to be cleaned off. They ran a diagnostic and put dye in my engine and determined that I have a severe oil leak coming from my rear main seal and oil pan. The mechanic said it would cost $1800 to fix (!!!). However, my father works in the car industry and found someone he knows who will fix it for $500. Here is the catch... My father lives 1000 miles away. I will be moving back near him in August, though, and could get it fixed then. My question: Do I keep filling up my oil and let it smoke for 3 months until I move and my dad's friend can fix it for cheap? Do I get another estimate? Do I pay the $1800? Do I go ahead and just buy a new car (it will have to make the 1000 mile drive in August). The smoke is from my oil leaking on/under my engine and burning. At least that is my understanding of it... How much should it cost to get it fixed? $1800 sounds like WAY too much, but the guy who ran the diagnostic recommended getting a new car vs. fixing it because of the amount of work that is needed and the high cost. Where do I take it for another estimate?? Do I have to pay for another diagnostic if I take it somewhere else? I am just worried that as soon as I fix this, something else is going to pop up and I would be better off investing in a new car anyways. UGH.

A: You have several options..but driving it with the bad leak isnt one of them. I would check around for another estimate. I think you could do better. The repair is cheap compared to a new car payment..unless you were looking for a new car anyway..so I would say to check around and get it fixed and then make a more rational decision when not in need...besides you will ahve a hard time trading with the problems you have described

Q: my 2001 chevy tracker is making a cracking-like noise under the hood when mostly when i accelerate?

A: Make sure your using the right octane recommended and its probably time for a tune-up.

Q: The right rear wheel on my 2001 Chevy Tracker won't turn?
I have been noticing a clunking sound from the rear wheel area when I start off lately. I had the rear brakes serviced a year ago. Last night when I tried to back out of the driveway, the left rear wheel spun in the gravel, the right rear apparently wasn't turning. I used 4wd to get me out of the gravel and mud. The car will now move but it acts like something is holding it back. Could a brake shoe be stuck or what. Help!

A: Seized calliper

Q: I have a 2001 Chevy Tracker. I took all the bolts off the water pump but ...?
I removed all the bolts around the pump and two horizontal mounting bolts. I tried tapping with hammer to remove but something is still holding it in place. Does anyone know what it is? I have trouble finding the book on trackers in the stores. I would get it online but I already have this thing ready to come out. Need some quick advice. Thanks.

A: make SURE you have all the bolts out, then tap it with a rubber mallet or use a block of wood and a hammer to break it loose from the gasket.

Q: Why would my 2001 Tracker shake at idle with the A/C on but doesn't with the A/C off?
I have a 2001 Chevy Tracker V6.

A: Turning the A/C on turns on the compressor, which takes a lot of energy out of the engine-The engine is expending more energy, making the whole vehicle harder to run-Did you ever notice that you use more gas when the A/C is running? That is because the engine has to work harder when the A/C is on....

Q: on my 2001 Chevy tracker, my dome lights are flickering on & off. where on my car do i look for the short??
i do not know if it is a fuse(cannot find the fuse box), or if i should be looking for wires.

A: I have ran into this before, and it wasn't what one might think. If you will look at the switches on each door that turns on the lights when the door is opened, you will find they probably need cleaned. At the parts store you can get some spray stuff called Electronic Cleaner, and this should fix the problem. The contacts where the door makes a ground to turn the lights off is getting corroded up, and as you drive the door might jar around causing the contacts to not make good ground, thus making the lights flicker. Once you get them clean, don't put any lube on them as this will collect dirt and dust and cause more problems. I hope this resolves your problem. Good Luck!!

Q: Can day running lights be disabled on a 2001 Chevy Tracker? They drive me nuts.?

A: There is a fuse that is for the DRL and it will be indicated on it either on the fuse panel or the cover that goes over it. If there is no fuse marked for it, it is probably there but is called something different. If that is the case, you will need to get the manual to see where power is obtained for it. At times power is robbed from different fuses to supply other things on the car, so if you pull the fuse and then something else quits you will have to disconnect the power at the DRL module or something simialar to achieve what you want.

Q: I drive a 2001 chevy tracker, 4wd, where the hell are the spark plugs located? i don't see them on the motor!
It is a four cylinder 2.0L engine, 4wd, i heard on the motor underneath a cover. does that sound feesible?

A: not 100% sure exactly where theyr at on a tracker... specific engine would help. most chevys have their spark plugs located at the bottom of the head, in between the exhaust manifold. their quite hard to reach usually. find a distributor or coil pack and trace the plug wire to the plug. thats the best i can do, hope it helps.

Q: my 2001 chevy tracker's ac blew a fuse . I disconnected the lead to the compressor and it still blew a fuse???
I disconnected the compressor and tried another fuse and it blew. Now this is telling me that I have a short somewhere.I know it is not the fan switch but, possibly the ac switch, unless I have a direct connection to ground elsewhere in the harness. Any thoughts?

A: you have a shoirt to ground somewhere in that circuit. you will have to trace back thru the wiring to find it. It will take some time but that's what is needed. Good luck.

Q: Where to find Blower Motor Wheel for 2001 Chevy Tracker?
Kind of a gross story but about two or three months ago I had a mouse somehow find its way in my car and into the blower motor. So on a warm February day (i live in texas) I turned on the AC and heard a loud noise coming from the glove box area. Then it started to smell real bad. I started taking things apart and found the blower motor wheel to be busted up. I ordered a new blower motor thinking it would come with the wheel but it does not, and I haven't been able to find one online or at stores such as Autozone. Also, I've attempted to take the dash out, without much luck, so I could try and find this dead mouse and clean it up so the smell will go away... I cant get it apart to clean it out and the smell is still there. Anyone have any ideas or similar experience? It's been a nightmare for me.... Thanks!

A: try the junkyards for the blower pulley or your local chevy dealer.
