A: Look under the hood and look for a black cap about the size of a silver dollar, it could say OIL on it, but anyway the oil stick is where you check your oil and fill your car with oil also, try this , a lot of Chevy cars have an oil stick just like this!

Q: Chevy Tracker 2000 with a gear shift problem?
As I was accelerating this morning and my car was shifting from first to second gear, I felt the motor rev up as if it was working extra hard, then the whole vehicle seemed to make a POP as it moved into the next gear. I am unsure what this means but I was able to drive it the rest of the way to work without it happening again. I was accelerating from a stopped postion at a red light and was concerned as to what this might be. The Vehicle is a automatic and is a 2WD 2.0 4D. Any Advice would be helpful.
A: try changing the trans pressure control sol , if you don t find any clutch dust or metal in the trans pan when its removed , and the fluid looks ok

A: there is no refill port if you need to charge it through the low pressure line which is the BIG line comeing off the compressor you will need a set of guages or just a low pressure side adaptor,you can buy the cans of refrigerant with the hose and guage already on it (that is your best bet )if your only needing to add freon to the system

A: Wow! This is a question I can answer! I had 2 trackers. A 2000 and a 2003. My first tracker the 2000 model was decent. It always started up. Once I had to replace a fuze but if thats all that ever had to be fixed thats nothing. The 4wd works great in the snow! I loved that feature. One thing I would check is the exhaust shield under the car. Mine started to rust and actually made a buzzing noise when I took off. I had about 50k miles on it when I traded it in for the 2003 model. I liked the 2003 model and kept it for 2 years. I never had any trouble with it. 4x4 was great, reliable car. It is good for someone who wants their first suv type of car for not too much money. Go on Edmunds.com and appraise the car first to see how much it is worth first so your not getting screwed. 73,000 is a lot of miles. Make sure you drive it and check everything out first. Carfax might be a good idea too.
Q: 2000 Chevy Tracker Engine Revs Up and Down when Idle and A/C running?
I have a problem with my 2000 Chevy Tracker. It seems that when I am idle (Stopped) and my A/c is running that the engine will rev up and down after about 30-60 seconds of being idle. The rpms fluctuate about600-800 (This is just a guess) But when I turn the A/C off it will run fine. Also when the engine starts to rev up and down the A/C will just blow out warm air. Can you help me?
I forgot to mention that I just recently took it into the dealership to get the A/C "fixed" Now they said they replaced some hoses that where clogged and also..something else on the compressor (I really cant remember without looking at the reciept, but I know it wasnt nothing to major because the parts were only like 75 bucks, the rest was labor) Not sure if this helps with anything but he had that they didnt need to refill it with freon because it was full.
A: The answer to your question is simple. The A/C compressor is cycling faster than it should due to low freon level in A/C system. Some idle change is normal when A/C cycles on. Have your A/C system charged and inspected for leaks.

A: If it is an idler pully all you will need to do is take off the serpentine belt then in the middle of teh idler pully there will be one bolt just unbolt then bolt up the new one and put belt back on.

A: My husband is a body tech/mechanic and said that you can drive the vehicle, it should drive somewhat straight but might bounce some and make a popping noise. He said he would not drive it at a high rate of speed or in windy conditions. Hope that helps.
