light comes on intermitent,scan read out #1 and #2 banks are running lean.could anyone tell me what this could be.the service engine soon light pops on and off.this incident did not start untill i changed the gas filter.please help.thanks.1997 chevy 2door tahoe 5.7 litre.
A: With such little info, hard to diagnose. Some things to check.
1. pinched fuel lines
2. dirty MAF sensor
3. bad PCV valve
4. vacuum leak

i just gave my 1997 tahoe 5.7 liter a complete tuneup.now the ses light pops on and off.i checked it on a scanner and it said #1 and #2 bank running rich.could anyone please help me here.don't know what to replace next to fix the problem.thanks.
A: You HAVE to take `96 and newer cars to the dealer EVERYTIME, because OBD-II is very picky and the automakers have everything very carefully tuned, and they re train their mechanics every week when a new service bullitin comes out...

Q: 1997 Chevy Tahoe sounds like a motorcycle / dirtbike.?
My brother is at the shore with his 1997 Chevy Tahoe. today he called me and to look around to see why it sounds like a motorcycle and not like what it should sound like which is kinda like a speedboat with its engines idle underwater. Any reason why it sounds like this? If someone could answer this ASAP that would be really helpful.
A: Is it possible that someone swiped your Catalytic Converter to sell for scrap ? That's been happening a lot lately, especially with SUV's , since they sit up so high, that it's far easier.I hope it's just an Exhaust Leak, and not that.

tahoe has power windows and locks. I have the door panel off but i can't figure out how to get the window in and in the tracks.
A: I CAN.T REMEMBER FOR SURE BUT I THINK YOU HAVE TWO LARGE POP REVITS HOLDING THE GLASS TO THE REGULATOR. YOU NEED TO EITHER LOWER OR RAISE THE GLASS TO A POINT WHERE YOU CLEAR THE INNER STRUCTURE OF THE DOOR .TO BE ABLE TO SEE IF I'M CORRECT. IF YOU SEE A COUPLE OF REVITS WITH ABOUT A 1/2 HEAD TAKE A SHARP PUNCH AND KNOCK OUT THE CENTER AND DRILL OUT THE REST . IT HELPS IF YOU HAVE SOMEONE HOLD THE REGULATOR FIRM WHILE YOU KNOCK OUT THE REVIT CENTER.. YOU CAN USE BOLTS AND NUTS AS A REPLACEMENT REVITS.

my chevy tahoe stops while driving and after 10 minutes re-starts again, then I drive it for 15 minutes and it does it again, I changed the fuel filter and still, it does apear that could be the fuel pump but if it was bad will not worked at all, I noticed that is like no voltage is gets to the fuel pump because I do not heard it run, what could it be?....thanks for any feed back.
A: they also have a fuel pump relay that goes bad,what it does is when it heats up it shuts off,like it was designed to do,there easy to change,and id try this before i went in to the tank on it,that's what it sounds like it could be,anything beats dropping the tank off of those,its worth a try.good luck with it.

A: I assume by "coffee colored", it looked like coffee with cream.
Well, if that's the case, you've had a coolant leak into the engine, most likely from a blown head gasket...or, the truck has overheated, and you've cracked a combustion chamber.
Or, the leak has filled a cylinder, and it's "hydraulicked"...liquid won't compress. You can pull all the plugs, and try to turn it over...if it turns, this is the case.
About the best you can do is replace the engine. You might be able to rebuild what you have, but if it's locked up, there's likely at a minimum crank and bearing damage, along with cylinder wall scoring from the lack of lubrication provided by the oil and water mix..
I'd replace it...in the long run, you'll be better off than you would be trying to save the engine you've got.

A: if you have a current loan on the vehicle, giving it back to the finance company would be a last resort option.
what will happen is it would be considered a "voluntary reposession" which would badly effect your credit.
the bank would then auction the vehicle and what ever money the lose from selling it vs what was owed in total you would be held liable for and it would reflect on your credit.
i.e if you owe 5000.00 and the bank gets 3,000 at auction you would be liable for 2,000.00
have a reposession on your credit would stop you from getting another car loan for on the average at least one year.
your best bet is to try to trade it in and take a hit on the trade value vs what you owe if possible.

A: Not sure what you mean by reset the light. If the light is on it indicates a problem with in the system itself.
This could be any number of things, a wheel speed sensor, wiring connector or the mostl likely culprit is the abs pump itself.
ABS pumps on GM's go out with some regularity, but as I said it could be other causes as well.
Unless you can diagnose, It should be diagnosed by a technician that's familar with GM vehicles.
